Job overview
The principal responsibilities of the role are to be a senior CAMHS clinician within our Integrated Front Door (IFD) project, alongside this role you will be responsible for coordinating the new-Multi Agency Collaborative voluntary sector collaborative offer in partnership with the London Borough of Newham (LBN).
Within the IFD the CAMHS Clinician will work alongside a senior social worker, a clinician from the CAMHS Front Door team and the CAMHS WINS “Wellbeing in Newham Schools” Team, as well as the network of professionals across the partnership.
The aim of the team is to establish more effective and timely management, assessment, formulation and signposting of all referrals for CYP experiencing emotional, psychological, behavioural, neuro-developmental and mental health problems across a section of the borough of Newham (Plaistow & East Ham).
This role will also be responsible for coordinating the Newham Multi Agency Collaborative (NewMac) which supports referrals to non-NHS voluntary sector organisations in a collaborative offer in partnership with LBN.
This role will include 0.4WTE clinical time within the Emotional and Behavioural Team and the Front Door team of Newham CAMHS.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work closely with senior leaders across the partnership to help ensure the success of the IFD including liaising with professional, CYP and families and all stakeholders, collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitative data, and thinking creatively with other team members. The IFD will likely adopt iterative changes as the model evolves to fit best with the need and local provision and the CAMHS senior clinician will be significant part of this process.
The role also incorporates the leading of Newham’s Multi-Agency Collective (New-MAC) an innovative approach to meeting the mental health needs of children and young people in Newham based on a partnership between CAMHS, Public Health, the London Borough of Newham and a network of Voluntary Sector Organisations. The premise of New-MAC is to provide joined up, collaborative, multi-agency support offers that meet young people’s needs in a holistic way, understanding that people’s mental health is responsive to the quality of their life in all aspects, not just focusing on the emotional or psychological. New-MAC is dedicated to finding new ways of developing support packages for young people who are facing emotional, psychological or mental health vulnerabilities and are passionate about doing this collectively, efficiently and comprehensively.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will represent CAMHS in this partnership, working to develop processes and structures in order to ensure an effective community approach to mental health provision, connecting up with both Core CAMHS and our community CAMHS embedded pathways which ensure CAMHS representation within Education, Youth Work, Youth Offending and the Local Authority through statutory, public and private sector, voluntary sector and charitable organisations. The New-MAC will represent an integral part of the IFD operation, principally including facilitating access for CYP and families to a wide range and expanding portfolio of community activities and support. Maintaining and developing the collective resource is also essential for this role and involves communication, coordination and relational expertise with different organisations.

Education, Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- A qualification in Child Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy, Nursing, Counselling Psychology, Social Work, Arts Therapy, or other equivalent profession
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Evidence of well-developed highly specialist clinical skills and knowledge in CAMHS
- Able to manage own time and caseload
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work effectively across organisational boundaries
- Teaching skills, both in clinical and education settings
- Basic computer skills
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- A high degree of self-awareness and an ability to reflect on personal and professional attitudes and accept feedback
- Knowledge of and skill in using a wide variety of systemic theories and interventions and the ability to use these appropriately in relation to client need and work setting. Awareness of current national guidelines and policies in the field of CAMHS.
- Specific knowledge of pertinent issues for CAMHS
- In depth knowledge of CAMHS issues including assessment and interventions
- Evidence of continuing Professional Development as defined by relevant professional body

Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience of working therapeutically with children and young people, presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Knowledge and experience with working with delivering therapeutic groups in CAMHS.
- Experience in contributing to effective working within a multi-disciplinary team setting
- Experience/knowledge of working in a multi-ethnic community and of working with interpreters.
- Experience of CAMHS risk assessment and risk management
- Experience of developing and delivering specialist training programmes and/ or supervision of other staff groups.
