Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced Allied Health Professional (AHP) looking for a leadership role that will be pivotal in helping to shape the future and contribution of the AHP workforce at Great Ormond Street Hospital. As the Chief AHP, you will work closely with the Chief Nurse and you will be responsible for the professional leadership, and the strategic development of services that strengthen and profile the role of AHPs. The post holder will be expected to champion AHP led Research and Education and support and influence the Quality, Safety and Patient Experience agenda.
The postholder would be expected to contribute to the external landscape and lead on discussions pertaining to commissioning and service reconfigurations from an AHP perspective.

Main duties of the job
The Chief of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) works with the Chief Nurse to provide professional leadership and advice across the Trust, in particular to support the decision making of the members of the Trust Executive.
The post holder is accountable for providing strong strategic direction and professional leadership to AHPs within the Hospital and for ensuring effective AHP input into the development of the Trust strategy, policies and business planning.
The Chief AHP is a key member of the Chief Nurse’s Senior Management Team and the AHP Board providing strategic direction to the professions and the wider Trust acting as a role model, demonstrating the compassionate leadership we aspire to and the always values of the organisation.
Reporting directly to the Chief Nurse, the Chief AHP provides professional leadership and strategic direction for AHPs, developing and implementing standards across the Trust which support professional development and leadership, competence, capacity, and standards of conduct directly leading to high quality, efficient patient care.
The Chief AHP is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong and effective partnerships and stakeholder relationships across local, regional, and national networks, including leading the development of Trust’s strategic vision and objectives and provides professional and strategic leadership across the AHP professions (as defined by the HCPC) at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

- Proven experience of building and working in partnership with both internal and external stakeholders
- Significant experience of: Delivering continuous quality improvement, ensuring consistently high standards of clinical safety and quality, engaging and inspiring a professional workforce and working with regulators, e.g. CQC
- Has an understanding of the EDI framework and can demonstrate tangible examples of this is practice
- Experience of working within a complex and challenging healthcare environment and of delivering operational and targets and strategic deliverables at senior level
