Staff Nurse - CAMHS Mildred Creek Unit
Band 5
Job overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to work within our dynamic multidisciplinary team, we welcome applications from Registered Mental health Nurses and/or Learning Disability nurse backgrounds. Our model of working is based on the Therapeutic Milieu.
The Mildred Creak Unit is a children’s inpatient mental health unit, the Unit cares for young people aged 7 – 14 years old with a range of severe and complex mental health difficulties..
Supporting a structured routine for the young people offers containment to the family and young person, mirroring this we recognise the benefit a structured timetable offers to staff so in place we offer weekly meetings at 2pm, which include nurse led teaching, group discussion, MDT meetings, monthly team reflective meetings and a weekly facilitated nurse support meeting.
We believe that every interaction with a young person is an opportunity to be therapeutic. Recognising the impact of the work, alongside the weekly reflective group meetings we support monthly individual supervision. Offering greater autonomy to the nurses, provides young people with greater collaboration and empowerment opportunities in their treatment journey.
A team of senior nurses ensure that all staff feel supported and encourage development, this includes staff nurses from child and mental health backgrounds, experienced therapeutic care workers and healthcare assistants.

The role involves working as a member of the nursing team to provide care to the young people. You will facilitate their daily routines and attendance of the therapeutic timetable in a nurturing and supportive
