Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, forward thinking, and motivated Pharmacy Technician to further your career by joining the Pharmacy Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a Pharmacy Technician - Information Officer.

This is a job share role that will join a team of other Technicians and Pharmacist Information Officers. You will be supported by our experienced and friendly Pharmacy Digital Team, as well as colleagues across the wider Pharmacy and Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Teams.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in a hospital Pharmacy environment, with strong knowledge of medicines management and change leadership. Excellent communication, analytical and IT system interpretation skills are essential.

 

Main duties of the job

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Pharmacy Services by representing Pharmacy in digital-decision-making, supporting innovation, and improving safety and efficiency across the Trust. As a digital change leader, you will support transformation projects, champion best 
practices, and act as a key link between the Pharmacy Department and EPR Team, providing expert advice and leading on innovation.

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Practising pharmacy technician working in a hospital environment
  • Extensive and up to date knowledge of pharmacy, medicines management and medicines optimisation and operational workflows and processes within a hospital environment including dispensary, procurement, homecare, technical services and ward areas
  • Experience in change management within a pharmacy environment
  • Experience using the EPR system Epic as an end user
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing pharmacy elements of IT/Information projects including deploying and optimising systems
  • Experience of identifying, reporting and managing risk in current process and taking action to improve processes

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
