Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered Pharmacy Technician with Hospital Pharmacy experience and a keen interest in utilising technology in the provision of Pharmacy Services.

You will also be responsible for managing the ward Topping Up Service 
and for providing leadership to the Distribution Team for the day-to-day running of the Distribution supply functions.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to cover for the Automation Co Ordinator in their absence being a “Trouble-shooter” for the Omnicell ® Intelligent Storage system and Pharmacy Robot. 

Applicants must have the NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3 qualification
(or equivalent) and BTEC or equivalent certificate and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Academic/Professional qualification/Training

Essential criteria
  • BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) Level 3 (City and Guilds) and Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science (QCF) or equivalent qualification supported by Pharmacy work experience.
  • GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician
  • The following qualifications in progress or willing to work towards: Accredited Checking Technician (ACPT)

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Relevant Hospital pharmacy experience as a qualified Technician.
  • Dispensing and Distribution stock control systems
  • Proven experience in training and assessment of junior staff
  • Multidisciplinary team working
Desirable criteria
  • EPIC Computer system including Electronic Prescribing
  • Operation of Automated Dispensing Robot & Intelligent Storage Systems
  • Use of medicines in specialist area of paediatrics

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
