As one of the largest echocardiography services in the UK, we offer the full complement of specialist echo services to our cardiac & respiratory teams at Royal Brompton Hospital and support cardio-oncology services for the Royal Marsden Hospitals.
We are looking for enthusiastic & dynamic Specialist Echocardiographers to join our team. This post offers the opportunity to work with international leaders in the field in a stimulating and collegiate environment across multiple sites.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have 3 years post accreditation experience in echocardiography (Level 2 BSE or equivalent). A background in cardiac investigations is an advantage. The successful candidate will become a key contributor to both the daily operations and strategic direction of our service and will share our commitment to both continual learning and excellence.

Essential criteria
- BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent
- Echocardiography accreditation (British Society of Echocardiography level 2 or equivalent) with documented up-to-date continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- 3 years post accreditation experience
- HCPC registered/eligible
- Immediate Life Support or above
Experience
Essential criteria
- Contemporary experience in performing and reporting transthoracic echocardiography in adult patients
- Background experience in range of techniques involved in assessment and therapy provision for patients with cardiac disease
- Technical skills enabling measurement and analysis of physiological parameters, including 12 lead ECG & blood pressure
- Ability to interpret fundamental ECG abnormalities
Desirable criteria
- Competency in strain imaging
- Competency in 3D imaging
- Competency in the use of ultrasound enhancing agents
- Experience in complex pathologies in a cardiac surgery centre
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- High degree of dexterity, co-ordination and sensory skills for manipulation of echo probe involving long periods of concentration
- Good computer skills, able to perform basic troubleshooting steps in case of malfunction of image acquisition, transfer & reporting systems
Desirable criteria
- Experience in stress echo
