This job description sets out the details and service conditions for a Junior Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care Medicine and Cardiology, based at
Homerton University Hospital.


This is an opportunity for a trainee who may wish to take time out before embarking on a Specialist Training programme in order to gain
Cardiology and Intensive Care experience and clinical decision making skills or allow time to study for postgraduate exams.

Main duties of the job

During Intensive Care Medicine Placement

• Contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient Intensive Care Medicine service.
• Provide evidence-based care when appropriate.
• Have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in national standards and the local commissioners’ contracts.


During Cardiology Placement
• The Clinical Fellow will work closely with the Consultants and Associate Specialist and will support the Cardiology team, Cardiac nurses, and
Cardiac physiologists.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBBS
  • FULL REGISTRATION WITH THE GMC
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP/FRCA/FFICM part 1 ACCS
  • ATLS/ALS/APLS

Skills/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent clinical skills
  • Broad clinical experience and evidence of appropriately maintained clinical skills.
  • Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English.
  • IT skills and computer literacy.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 2 years clinical practice
  • One year experience in Acute Medicine in secondary care at ST1/2 Grade
  • Completion of postgraduate training to level of FY2 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Cardiology at ST1/2 Grade
  • Prior experience in Adult Critical Care

Research

Essential criteria
  • Good understanding of research principles
Desirable criteria
  • Presentations/Publications

Management

Essential criteria
  • Good understanding of Clinical Governance
  • Good understanding of Audit Principles
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrable experience in clinical governance
