We have exciting opportunity,  for 2 permanent band 6 Senior Community Children’s Nurses. The role is suited to an experienced band 5/6 looking to gain experience, develop their clinical skills and management of children’s acute and long term conditions.  

Main duties of the job

To provide acute and complex children’s nursing care in the child’s home or other community settings within City and Hackney which is flexible, and needs based.

The post holder will work collaboratively with other agencies to offer education, advice and support. To provide a highly skilled and developed nursing care for children in their own homes, nurseries, schools and other care settings.

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • RN Child
  • Register Child Teaching/mentoring 998 or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • Community Specialist practitioner
  • Non-medical prescriber V300

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge/understanding of confidentiality issues.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of paediatrics in the community.
  • Clear understanding of policies related to safeguarding.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Assessment and interpretation of highly complex events/conditions, with the ability to make judgements and recommendations regarding management of care within the community.
  • The ability to communicate with a wide range of professionals around a child on the caseload. Working with the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • An ability to undertake a range of nursing skills such as the management and care of central lines, taking of peripheral bloods. Ability to work within a team and contribute to the smooth running of the team.
  • Understanding of basic managerial skills.
Desirable criteria
  • To have nursed children who have required ventilation
