Job overview
We are looking for an outstanding midwife with strong clinical and managerial experience to join our supportive team as Matron for Community and Antenatal Services. This is a fixed-term opportunity to provide maternity leave cover and to play a key leadership role in shaping safe, compassionate care for women, birthing people and families.
The Matron for Community and Antenatal Clinic is pivotal to the provision of high quality and effective service to the users of Homerton maternity services.
As a key member of the senior midwifery team, you will be a highly visible presence within the multi-disciplinary maternity team, with a role that is 30% clinical and 70% non-clinical management. You will be an advocate for high-quality patient experience and choice, and demonstrate excellence in clinical practice.
The Matron will be a collaborative and inclusive leader, prepared to manage staff effectively to ensure the delivery of a cost-effective, efficient and equitable service.
As the lead for the Community and Antenatal Clinic, you will oversee key areas including Community Midwifery and Homebirth Service, Antenatal Clinic, Diabetes and Maternal Medicine services .
Main duties of the job
The Matron will be a highly visible, accessible, and authoritative presence across the Maternity pathway, to which patients, their families and others can turn for leadership, assistance, advice, and support. The post holder will be part of the Divisional Midwifery Leadership team with specific responsibility for areas across the Antenatal and community pathway
The post holder will:
- Work together with the senior midwifery team to deliver the Maternity strategy.
- Ensure a woman-centred approach throughout the maternity pathway.
- Create and sustain efficient care processes that provide high quality clinical care
- Create a supportive environment in which training, coaching and practice development needs are accurately identified and progressed through agreed structures, appraisals, PDRs and performance management.
- Ensure appropriate provision and care for the management of resources for midwifery and support staff, consumables and environment.

- Evidence of post registration education at degree level
