The successful candidate  will undertake the education and training required with London South Bank University  to achieve NMC registration as a Registered Midwife. This training is across a 2 year period, fixed term.

The 2-year Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery aims to produce competent, caring, research and evidence-based midwives, capable of delivering effective woman-centred care for mothers and their families within these contexts.

Working as a student midwife involves being recognised as a responsible and accountable individual who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period under the direction/supervision of a registered midwife.
This care includes preventative measures, the promotion of an optimal birth experience, the detection of complications in mother and child, the accessing of medical care or other appropriate assistance and the carrying out of emergency measures.

  • The following guiding principles relate to professional competence and fitness for practice, and the promotion and facilitation of the optimal physiological process of childbirth. This includes competence in identifying any complications that may arise, accessing appropriate assistance, and implementing correct emergency measures.
