We are delighted to offer a permanent, full-time position for a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with a passion for Hand Therapy to join the established Musculoskeletal Therapy Team at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a clinician with relevant experience and enthusiasm, to further develop both clinical and non-clinical skills in a supportive and innovative environment.

Main duties of the job

 Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct expert assessments and deliver tailored treatment plans for individuals with traumatic, acquired, or post-surgical hand conditions, using a range of therapeutic approaches to support recovery and function.
  • Establish personalised rehabilitation goals and monitor progress through recognised clinical outcome measures.
  • Provide hand therapy services for patients referred by specialist hand consultantsfracture clinic, and rheumatology teams, ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and carers, using both verbal and non-verbal techniques to obtain informed consent, guide rehabilitation, and manage patient expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy/ Occupational Therapy, HCPC
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant post graduate courses/training/CPD - Member of BAHT, BAHT Level 1 and 2

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge/understanding of confidentiality issues
  • Musculoskeletal/ hand therapy clinical knowledge
  • Awareness of clinical audit and evidence-based practice.
  • Knowledge of principles of risk management
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of current professional and NHS issues, diverse multicultural society
  • Awareness of impact of socioeconomic factors on health
  • Knowledge of appraisal cycle

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Specific Hand therapy clinical experience
  • Experience managing a wide range of hand/ upper limb conditions
  • Maintaining relevant range of CPD activities
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within a diverse socioeconomic/multicultural society.
  • Experience of working in different health care environments, including NHS

Skills/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Able to manage caseload and to prioritise under pressure. MDT working
  • Able to demonstrate effective written & verbal communication skills, report writing
  • Ax & implement appropriate Rx for a range of patients.
  • Clear, concise verbal and written reporting skills.
  • Good IT skills including word processing and use of email
  • Problem solving skills
Desirable criteria
  • Supervision/appraisal (PTA,St,Physio/OT), presentation skils
