Job overview

The opportunity has arisen as a Chief/Senior Cardiac Physiologist to join us and become an integral part of a highly motivated and enthusiastic team in our Cardiology Department.

You will work alongside a team of Cardiac Physiologists performing and reporting Echo’s, Dyssynchrony Echo’s, assisting in various other complex cardiac diagnostic tests like TOE’s, Dobutamine Stress Echo’s, Contrast and Bubble Echo’s. You should also have experience to perform and report ETT’s, Tape Monitors, BP monitors and ECGs.

The successful candidate will have opportunity for further training in Advanced Echo and managerial skills with protected CPD session every week.

Main duties of the job

You should have relevant experience as a Band 6/7 and possess a BSc Degree in Physiology or equivalent. BSE accreditation in Adult Transthoracic Echo or equivalent is essential for a Band 7 post. Non-BSE accredited Echocardiographers can also apply and shall be considered for a Band 6 post. These candidates will have opportunity for further training and support to achieve full BSE accreditation.

*The Trust has implemented a 15%retention premium for BSE Accredited Echocardiographers * Subject to annual review

  • To provide expert clinical practice, bringing innovation, clinical leadership and  strategic direction in the field of Cardiology diagnostic tests.
  • Be able to undertake  complex diagnostic cardiac clinical physiology procedures and interpret the results independently to provide factual / clinical reports and offer support and supervision to colleagues regarding both clinical and non-clinical matters.
  • To provide leadership and focus for research and evidenced based best practice
  • To provide education, training and development for all aspects of the service in collaboration with multi-professional groups.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Chief Cardiac Physiologist to achieve best practice, improve service standards and effectiveness.
