Job overview
We are looking for a dedicated Band 5 Theatre Scrub Nurse/Practitioner to join our Main Theatres team. The suite includes five operating theatres and one treatment room, with one theatre specialising in trauma and orthopaedics supported by laminar flow technology. A 10-bed recovery unit ensures safe post-operative care. You will work across a range of specialities, supporting the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment, preparing instruments, and delivering safe, effective care throughout the perioperative journey. You may also rotate through the Day Stay Unit, which houses three theatres and two endoscopy rooms, and the Surgical Centre, which manages admissions and discharges for over 6,000 elective patients annually. Main duties of the job
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To provide high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients by assessing care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating them without supervision.
• The role demands the flexibility of being able to work across all specialties carried out within the department.
• To be responsible for a defined caseload as a named nurse.
• The post holder will be required to provide assistance to the surgeons during all surgical procedures whether under local or general anesthetics
• The post holder will be required to work autonomously in the theatre areas of the Trust, providing knowledge and skills for surgery in the peri-operative setting.
• The post holder is responsible for planning, implementing and assessing care of patients.
• The post holder will ensure that standards are met as per national and local guidelines, including National Frameworks.
• The post holder will participate to all the operating theatres in the Trust and expected to take part in on call, nights on and weekend duties.
