Trosolwg o'r swydd

·       Applications are invited for two 6-month clinical fellow posts in general anaesthesia at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Two posts are available from November 2025. Start dates after this time will also be considered. These posts are ideally suited to an anaesthetist who has completed their Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC) and Primary FRCA and is looking to broaden their anaesthetic experience prior to securing a specialist or higher training post.

·       This post will primarily be based at Charing Cross hospital with possible opportunities for transfer to Hammersmith or St Mary’s hospital (subject to mutual agreement) to gain further exposure to additional sub-specialties and broaden clinical experience.

·       The clinical duties would cover the Stage 2 curriculum of the Royal College of Anaesthesia (RCOA). There will also be opportunities to undertake activities that enhance their non-clinical skills such as education & research. 

·       Applicants are required to have completed 4 years of anaesthetic training, the Primary FRCA, Stage 1 RCOA training or equivalent qualification. In addition to elective theatre work, the post holder will cover cardiac arrest calls and the acute pain service when on call. 

·       There is a strong departmental tradition of performing, presenting, and publishing research and audit projects. The post holder will support developments in education, research, leadership and quality improvement projects within the Trust.

·       As a Clinical Fellow in anaesthesia, the post-holder will take part in a 1:8 Junior registrar on-call rota alongside other residents. The majority of the post holder’s clinical time will be spent on a variety of surgical lists.

·       The surgical specialties covered at Charing Cross hospital are neurosurgery (including interventional neuro-radiology and thrombectomy), head and neck (including robotic assisted surgery), urology (including robotic assisted surgery), ENT, plastics, colorectal (including HIPEC), major orthopaedics and day surgery.

·       Hammersmith Hospital includes renal, hepatobiliary, cardio-thoracic surgery, major gynae-oncology surgery and also provide anaesthesia for upper GI and endocrine surgery.

·       St Mary’s hospital is one of the four London Major Trauma Centres with associated surgical specialties, a quaternary vascular service and a busy obstetric unit.  Additionally, colorectal, oesophageal, general, bariatric and paediatric surgery are also provided at this site.

·       There is a strong departmental tradition of performing, presenting, and publishing research and audit projects. The post holder will support developments in education, research, leadership and quality improvement projects within the Trust.

·       Normal theatre working day 07:30 – 17:30

·       Long Day 07.30 – 20:00 (1:8)

·       Night shift 19.30 – 08:00 (1:8)
