Job overview

Our Clinical Education Team is committed to improving patient care and experience through enhanced clinical skills and effective teamwork. We deliver high-quality training, including bedside coaching, competency-based development programmes and study events.

We are currently recruiting a Band 7 Clinical Practice Educator for a Trust-wide role across Imperial’s three hospital sites: St Mary’s, Charing Cross and Hammersmith. This post offers the opportunity to work within an Academic Health Science Centre and a Pathway to Excellence accredited hospital.
This is a varied and demanding role requiring strong leadership, motivation and evidence-based clinical practice. In return, you’ll continue to develop your own skills while supporting others. Alongside clinical coaching, team members lead site-specific and cross-site projects aligned with service needs and personal interests.

Formal teaching experience isn’t essential, as development opportunities are available. However, excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and a commitment to improving surgical patient care are vital. You’ll need a strong work ethic, self-awareness and a drive for continuous improvement.
We’re a supportive, high-performing team offering variety, challenge and the chance to shape education across Imperial. If you’re a Registered Nurse with substantial surgical experience, some critical care skills and current team leadership experience, we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • You will maintain an effective educational environment through ‘on the job’ coaching and staff development in a variety of clinical settings, whilst working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to enable delivery of high quality effective care, thus improving the patients’ experience.
  • You will act as an expert practitioner, resource and role model, encouraging evidence based practice, providing support and supervision for all staff, including those on professional development courses.
  • You will be responsible for the development of programmes of education and training; whilst demonstrating awareness of cultural and learning diversity in the workplace and the need to adapt training accordingly.
  • You will collaborate on strategy development and be responsible for the achievement of educational targets.
  • You will contribute to ensuring a conducive work environment and be a change agent with a strong professional and clinical focus.

Working for our organisation

At Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care.

Become part of a vibrant team living our values - expert, kind, collaborative and aspirational. You’ll get an experience like no other and will fast forward your career.

Benefits include career development, flexible working and wellbeing, staff recognition scheme.  Make use of optional benefits including Cycle to Work, car lease schemes, season ticket loan or membership options for onsite leisure facilities.

We are committed to equal opportunities and improving the working lives of our staff and will consider applications to work flexibly,  part time or job share.  Please talk to us at interview.
