Job overview

Come and join our small, friendly team. We are the front door of the hospital to patients, being admitted for on the day elective surgical procedures and for those that are able to, we will also safely send them home once their procedure is complete.

We are looking for a hardworking and caring individual that wants to help make a difference to our patients care. This will largely but not exclusively include tasks such as taking and recording patients vital signs, point of care testing, patient preparation and escorting the patients where they need to go.

We are currently in the process of commencing a departmental redesign and this is a very exciting time to join us.

Main duties of the job

  • Assist in the provision of care to patients, supporting and supervised by a registered nurse.
  • To carry out care and treatment tasks, delegated from professionally qualified staff, requiring a wide range of technical ability, numeracy and literacy skills as well as a significant level of interpersonal skills.
  • To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
  • The post holder will generally work with supervision close by and within well established procedures and practices. The post holder is required to use a degree of initiative and deal with matters independently where they can but should know when to refer to the manager.

  • QCF Level 3 in Health or equivalent
  • Numerate
  • Able to speak and write English to an appropriate standard to fulfil the job requirements
Desirable criteria
  • Further education beyond mandatory schooling

Experience

  • Up to date experience; worked within an acute care setting
