Job overview
St Marys Hospital is part of the world renowned Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, is one of
the four designated Major Trauma Centres for London and the only Major Trauma Centre in central
London. St Marys is one of the busiest Major Trauma Centres across London and has some of the
highest survival rates for trauma nationally. This is through exceptional team work and a culture
of collaboration. This is an exciting role within the Emergency Department at St Marys Hospital,
and we are looking for a dynamic and experienced band 6 nurse to join our emergency department
team to provide specialist trauma and resuscitation care to patients in the emergency department.
There will be opportunity to develop the role, foster a culture of continuous learning and be at the
forefront of trauma and resuscitative care
Main duties of the job
- Carry out planned care for a group of patients without supervision
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care
- Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care
- Maintain accurate clinical observations of the patient and act accordingly

Education/ qualifications
Essential criteria
- Relevant post registration clinical specialist qualification (ie, ED, ICU Course OR Relevant Experience)
- Registered Nurse
- ATNC / TNCC / Trauma level 2 (Or willingness to undertake in 12 months)
Desirable criteria
- Degree or equivalent in a health related subject
- Advanced Life Support Instructor
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant Experience with Emergency Nursing, Critical Care or High Dependency
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Experience in leading a team
Desirable criteria
- Previous band 6 experience in Emergency or Intensive Care
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills
- Teaching
- Ability to solve problems and contribute new ideas
- Basic IT skills
- Knowledge of the NMC Code of Conduct
