Main duties of the job
- Safely transport patients, medical equipment, specimens, and supplies across hospital departments.
- Respond to emergency calls and assist with urgent patient transfers.
- Support infection control and safety procedures, ensuring a clean and secure environment.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams to maintain efficient hospital operations.
- Provide a friendly, reassuring presence for patients and visitors during their hospital journey.

Essential criteria
- Numeracy and literacy
- General education to include Maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of customer service roles
- An understanding of people’s equality, diversity and rights
Desirable criteria
- Previous healthcare/NHS experience
- Previous experience of portering.
- Experience of Helpdesk communication and recording systems.
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working within domestic services, other hotel services or health care departments
- Previous experience in a customer facing role
