Fetal Medicine Specialist Grade, Centre for Fetal Care, Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital
The Centre for Fetal Care (CFC) is one of 6 NHSE commissioned level 3 fetal medicine units in England and receives referrals for fetal medicine from within NWL and nationally. The CFC is a major training centre for RCOG subspecialty fellows and other training doctors. Research on fetal growth restriction, multiple pregnancies, 3D diagnostic images, fetal neurology and other areas is actively undertaken in the unit which has a national and international reputation in these respects.
Main duties of the job
This post is designed to provide continuity of care and training oversight on the Centre for Fetal Care, with the post holder expecting to be present on site on most working days. The post holder will have oversight and management responsibilities in respect of MDT meetings, sessional medical staffing rotas and administrative matters. Providing an important liaison link between fetal medicine/obstetric consultants, trainees, midwives and other staff is an important focus of the post. The post holder will be a specialist in fetal medicine with extensive ultrasound, counselling and invasive testing expertise.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration: On GMC’s register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
- CCT in obstetrics and gynaecology or equivalent (‘equivalence’ must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
- On GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews
Knowledge/ Skills
Essential criteria
- Experience with invasive fetal medicine procedures independently
- Experience of working in tertiary Fetal Medicine Unit
- Demonstrable ability to supervise subspecialty trainees
- IT Skills and computer literacy
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of independently managing high-risk pregnancies
- Knowledge of appraising performance and dealing with poor performance
Leadership/Team working/management skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates appropriate senior leadership qualities
