Job overview

As an Income Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Trust’s income is accurate, transparent, and aligned with national healthcare funding standards. You will work at the heart of a dynamic finance team, collaborating with colleagues across the Trust and external partners to provide clear, reliable income reporting that supports vital decision-making. This is a role for someone who thrives on problem-solving, working with complex data, and driving improvements that make a tangible impact on healthcare services. Main duties of the job

In this role, you will take responsibility for ensuring all patient activity is accurately recorded and priced in line with the National Tariff Payment System (NTPS) rules. You will produce high-quality reports, resolve discrepancies, and deliver insightful analysis for both internal and external stakeholders. Strong communication skills are key, as you will regularly explain complex financial information to non-finance managers. We are looking for someone who is CCAB-qualified (or brings equivalent relevant experience), is confident with Excel, Access, and SQL, and can work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. You will also play a role in developing and enhancing our income reporting processes as organisational needs evolve, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to grow with the role.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Professional Accountancy Qualification (CCAB) with relevant continuing professional development plus have knowledge, experience and expertise in financial management, strategic & staff management or relevant senior experience in either Informatics or Planning functions.
  • Computer literacy in packages such as Excel, Word and Access. Expected to design and create reports using financial spread sheets, access database and other software systems
  • Expert in excel, access and data base (SQL) management

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant years finance experience in the NHS working with finance and non-finance staff at all levels in an organisation up to Trust Board level
  • Have a sound strategic knowledge of NHS commissioning arrangements
  • Comprehensive understanding in a range of accounting areas and the National Tariff Payment System (NTPS)
  • Have experience at working at a senior level in a challenging environment
  • Relevant experience of a similar department.
  • Management of staff including managing key priorities eg Monthly Accounts/Reports
  • Costing & Pricing of complex business cases.

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Numerate – Have the ability to analyse a range of complex facts, which require analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options to resolve and highly sensitive issues
  • SQL reporting/writing
  • Able to concentrate for long periods when inputting data and when analysing data/information with strong attention to detail
  • Capable of working under pressure to strict timescales and competing demands
  • Expert key board skills
  • Have the ability to interpret and apply policy & procedures.
  • Able to explain complex financial information to non-finance managers
