Job overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6 Senior Research Nurse to join our Non-Malignant Haematology Clinical Research Unit at Hammersmith Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality, patient-centred clinical research within a leading academic healthcare environment.
The post holder will be responsible for the operational delivery of a portfolio of interventional and non-interventional studies, including advanced therapy trials such as CAR-T cell studies, managing their own caseload of research participants and working autonomously across the research pathway.
The role requires strong clinical nursing skills, including medication administration with current IV competency, alongside a sound understanding of research protocols, data quality, and patient safety in line with Good Clinical Practice.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and world-leading clinicians in non-malignant haematology, supporting the delivery of innovative clinical trials while contributing to staff development and a positive research culture. This role is ideal for a nurse with a passion for research and a commitment to improving patient outcomes through excellence in clinical research delivery.
Main duties of the job
• To facilitate efficient, safe, high-quality care and support for patients participating in research.
• To support the non-malignant haematology research team in the facilitation of efficient, safe and participant focused research.
• Demonstrates high level clinical, technical and research skills through breadth and depth of knowledge.
• To contribute to the management of clinical research studies.
• To autonomously work with the clinical team to identify and recruit patients suitable for entry into clinical trials having understanding of the clinical patient pathway.
• To ensure safe planning and care of patients according to the clinical trials protocol.
• To ensure Good Clinical Practice and research governance standards for clinical research are adhered to and maintained to protect the wellbeing of the research participant.

Essential criteria
- Knowledge of National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR), its values, aims and structure
- Phlebotomy and cannulation experience
- Experience in the administration of haematology and research treatments
- Competent in storing and retrieving electronic data
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with clinical trial patients
- Experience of supervision of junior staff
- Good understanding of clinical trial regulations (e.g. ICH GCP)
Education
Essential criteria
- NMC registered
- Current competency in medication administration including IV medications
