Job overview
We are looking for an experienced scientist to support education and training for our physiologist healthcare science workforce. The Trust employs 1300 scientists across the life sciences, physiological and physical sciences.
The successful candidate will have prior experience of training and mentoring and have a keen interest in clinical practice education and development. You will need to demonstrate that you are pro-active, highly motivated, well organised, have excellent inter-personal skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a senior team.
Main duties of the job
• Maintain an effective educational environment through coaching and staff development within healthcare science clinical settings.
• Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to enable delivery of high quality effective care, thus improving the patients’ experience.
• Act as an expert practitioner, resource and role model encourage evidence based practice and provide support and supervision to all staff, including those on professional development courses.
• Work in partnership with the service leads in identifying training needs of ward staff.
• Develop programmes of education and training, whilst demonstrating awareness of cultural diversity in the workplace and the need to adapt training accordingly.
• Collaborate with the Lead Healthcare Scientist and the Healthcare Science Education Team in strategy development and be responsible for the achievement of education targets.
• Ensure a conducive learning environment and act as a change agent with a strong professional and clinical focus.
• Represent the Trust and participate in meetings, training sessions and agreed study forums both within and outside the Trust, which enhance personal and professional clinical standards.
• Engender a learning culture within healthcare science services.
• Work in partnership with Lead Healthcare Scientist and service leads as part of the Lead Healthcare Scientist’s team contributing to the development of healthcare scientist staff.
