Main duties of the job

  • Maintain an effective educational environment through coaching and staff development related to IPC.
  • Work as an active part of the IPC team and provide cover to site teams as necessary.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the implementation of the national IPC education framework.

Person specification

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Requires NMC registration on any part of the NMC register.
  • Minimum of first degree and Post registration qualification in IPC or equivalent experience.
  • Mentorship in Practice or equivalent [Standards for Student supervision and Assessments (SSSA) Training.
Desirable criteria
  • Has obtained a master’s qualification or working towards.
  • CPD courses at master’s level relevant to the post in education or equivalent.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical nursing skills and experience gained in an acute environment at band 7, (minimum of 2 years at B7 within an IPC role).
  • Experience of leading improvement.
  • Experience of presenting in different forums.
  • Experience of presenting in different forums.
Desirable criteria
  • Project management course or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of publishing or presenting academic or improvement work.
  • Experience of chairing and agenda setting clinical or non-clinical forums.
  • Experience of writing policy or guidelines.

Skill's/knowledge/ abilities

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of having previously managed and delivered a project.
  • Excellent organisation and managerial skills.
  • Awareness of different management, leadership, cultures and personalities and recognises the need to adapt communication as appropriate.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Articulate with advanced written and verbal and electronic communication skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in writing for publication.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Digital skills.
  • Competent in using Microsoft office and EPR
