Job overview

ICH understands the importance of ensuring good staff health and wellbeing, to individual and Trust success, and ultimately to positive patient outcomes.

Recent significant investment into the OH Service means that, as an integral member of the expanding well-resourced OH Multidisciplinary Team, you will be supporting the delivery of a SEQOHS accredited efficient and effective OH Services to the Trust employees and some external clients. 

You will undertake comprehensive evidence-based OH Assessments, provide risk-based intervention following exposure incidents, and offer expert OH advice in the management of sickness absence cases.  Also, as a member of a close working team you will support the development of team and trust colleagues' by sharing your expertise and support the building of others' competence in the management of health at work.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, opportunity to participate in policy and process development, auditing and other governance related activity, will ensure job variation, opportunity for growth and career progression.

Main duties of the job

  • As part of a multi-disciplinary team the purpose of this role is to support the protection and promotion of the health and wellbeing of current and prospective employees, and those from contracted and other organisations as per Trust arrangements
  • In accordance with Trust / Department policy and procedures, to deliver OH clinical activity such as management referral consultation and reporting, health clearance activity, and risk management & exposure related advice and intervention
  • As a specialist practitioner, provide evidence-based opinion, intervention and guidance to Trust management and partner organisations to support their line and risk management responsibilities, assist in safeguarding against risks arising from work and the working environment and to influence the application of safe and healthy work practices
  • To take responsibility for specific areas of occupational health service delivery and actively promote the work of the OH service by acting as a key link for managers and HR to named clinical programme groups or external clients.

Essential criteria
  • 1st level Registered Nurse
  • Specialist Occupational Health Qualification
  • Part 3 NMC Register: SCPHN
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 3 years+ wide range of OH nursing including 1 year+ NHS OH experience
Desirable criteria
  • Project management

Skills/ knowledge/ abilities

Essential criteria
  • Current OH clinical knowledge
  • Broad knowledge of recent NHS developments
  • Able to identify and solve complex problems at an operational level.
  • Confident presentation skills
  • Proven track record of analysing, evaluating and presenting complex data in a concise and understandable way
