An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist with a passion for oncology. Our cancer services based at Charing Cross Hospital offers a unique opportunity to work in a leading specialist cancer centre.

We offer the most up-to-date chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments, which leads to one of the best survival rates in the country. In this specialist role, you will be a senior therapist providing high quality occupational therapy to oncology inpatients. 

We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking and passionate therapist with excellent leadership, communication skills and advanced clinical skills, to join the team and deliver high quality, timely care. You will possess the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. It is important that the successful applicant is a team player with a positive outlook, has enthusiasm and has the ability to learn and develop new skills.

You must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in oncology, possessing highly specialist assessment, treatment and risk management skills.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post holder will be part of a therapy service meeting the needs of a multi-cultural and diverse population. As a senior member of a committed team they will provide high quality occupational therapy assessment and treatment of adult inpatients within the oncology service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

The post holder will be responsible for developing this service and evaluating the provision in conjunction with the Clinical Lead Therapist.  

The cancer service at Imperial provides secondary, tertiary and quaternary multi-modality diagnostics and treatments. It is one of the foremost cancer centres in the country. We hold national treatment centres for gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) and germ cell tumours, as well as the regional centre for nearly all complex cancer surgery and many diagnostics.

We strive to deliver a high quality, comprehensive and patient-focussed service for all our cancer patients in a compassionate and supportive manner, empowering them to rebuild their lives.

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy
  • State registration with the Health Professions Council
  • Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio, especially in the relevant clinical area
  • Clinical Educators course or equivalent

  • Membership of the Professional Organisation
  • Membership of Professional special interest groups relevant to speciality
  • Relevant Postgraduate clinical qualification
  • Management skills or leadership training

Experience

  • Significant recent clinical experience in relevant clinical area
  • Evidence of a broad base of clinical experience at Band 6 level or equivalent
  • Significant experience of working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team and inter-agency working
  • Experience of multidisciplinary goal planning, development of care pathways and using outcome measures
  • Experience of organising and implementing training programmes for therapists, MDT members, support workers, students and apprentices
  • Experience of service development/change management
  • Experience in implementing evidence based practice in speciality
  • Experience of on-call and weekend working in an acute hospital (if required for job role)

  • Previous Band 7 or equivalent experience in relevant post
  • Leadership of a therapy team
  • Recent, relevant work in an NHS environment
  • Experience of using clinical governance framework to monitor and improve quality of patient care
  • Clinical research experience
