We are looking for a dedicated Band 7 Pharmacist to join our multidisciplinary team and want to hear from you.

Join one of London's leading Trusts and be part of a progressive and dynamic environment where you can build a rewarding career in pharmacy as a Pharmacist working within our Acute Medical Units (AMU), Acute Assessment Units (AAU) and Elderly Medicine wards at Charing Cross and St Mary’s hospitals. You will be part of one of the largest teams in our Pharmacy Department, already comprising of a group of extremely friendly and aspirational people.

You will play a pivotal part in our services, providing support and working closely with medical, nursing, pharmacy staff and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) on a regular basis. Alongside attending ward rounds, you will also have the opportunity to partake in various MDT teaching, audits and service improvement projects. This is a unique oppurtunity to work at the forefront of patient care and support some of our most vunlerable populations. Each site will also provide unique insights and opportunities for your own development and to collaborate with our fabulous teams.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

• Attend regular consultant-led Post-Take Ward Rounds and Medicine for the Elderly ward rounds
• Provide an extended hours clinical pharmacy service to the AMU and AAU wards which includes working early and late shifts as well as regular weekends
• Be a key member of the multidisciplinary team
• Provide education and training to the multidisciplinary team
• Give advice at the point of prescribing thereby ensuring adherence to Trust policies and promoting antimicrobial stewardship
• Supervise and train junior pharmacists, trainee pharmacists, Medicines Management Pharmacy Technicians (MMPTs) and Assisstant Technical Officers (ATO's)
• Further develop your clinical and management skills
• To lead on medicine management initiatives for Emergency, Acute and Elderly Medicine patients
• To prepare expenditure reports for Emergency, Acute or Elderly Medicine directorates and attend directorate meetings if required.

  • Member of the GPhC
  • FS1 of the Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice (UCL) or other certificate equivalent

  • Independent Prescriber

Experience

  • This must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice (medicines information, aseptic services, ward services and dispensing)
  • Experience in delivering training and education
  • Experience in management of others. Demonstrate the ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options for patients
  • Practical clinical experience including attendance of consultant-led ward rounds Previous experience in delivering training and education

  • Previous experience of managing specialist services
  • Clinical guidelines development
  • Planning and developing services

Skills/ Knowledge / Abilities

  • Demonstrates advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement and is able to manage difficult and ambiguous problems in the relevant specialist area
  • Good understanding of complex medicines use at ward level; effective policies and risk within the relevant specialist area
