Job overview

Join us as the ATMP Senior Lead Pharmacist and take a leading role in shaping the future of advanced therapies at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Working alongside the Head of Pharmacy Clinical Trials & ATMPs, you’ll ensure the Trust is fully prepared to deliver ATMPs and ATMIPs across both clinical trials and routine care.

You’ll lead the implementation of ATMP commissioning, aligning services with governance frameworks and national priorities. This role offers the chance to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders—from ATMP manufacturers and stem cell labs to clinical teams, biosafety committees, and pharmacy colleagues—building systems that support safe, effective, and financially sound delivery.

Your expertise will help shape national guidance through engagement with the Pan-UK Pharmacy Working Group and Advanced Therapy Treatment Centres. Most importantly, you’ll join a passionate, friendly team that thrives on shared challenges and innovation. If you’re ready to lead with purpose, influence cutting-edge care, and grow within a supportive and forward-thinking environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the delivery and strategic development of ATMP pharmacy services, supporting both current and future NHS-commissioned therapies such as licensed CAR-Ts at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Clinical Trials & ATMPs to shape and sustain robust governance structures and infrastructure that enable safe, compliant, and effective ATMP provision.
  • Drive the growth and evolution of the ATMP service, including evaluating performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and contributing to long-term business planning.
  • Ensure all ATMPs and ATIMPs—whether in clinical trials or routine care—are managed in full alignment with national and international regulatory standards and best practice guidance.
  • Take ownership of pharmacy policies related to ATMPs, working closely with specialist pharmacists to ensure clinical relevance, feasibility, and integration across departments such as haematology, stem cell labs, and research units.
  • Play a key role in supporting the Trust’s JACIE accreditation, maintaining excellence in ATMP delivery in partnership with the Senior Lead Haematology Pharmacist.
  • Provide a high-quality, patient-centred service to all stakeholders involved in ATMP care, including clinicians, pharmacists, nurses, and patients—ensuring clarity, safety, and confidence in every step of the treatment journey.
