Job overview
Do you have a passion to work in healthcare, especially Cancer Services? We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual who is keen to learn. During the apprenticeship you will be working as a Science Manufacturing Technician Apprentice within a multi-disciplinary team based in the Aseptics unit within pharmacy.
You will be working in as aseptic cleanroom and get to see how and where life-saving treatments such as chemotherapy are made. Imperial College Healthcare Trust supports some of the most complex clinical services in London. By working in their aseptic unit, you are directly supporting critical care, haematology and oncology wards. You aren't just making a product; you are providing a lifeline for patients with the highest acuity of need.
As an apprentice you will be working towards gaining the Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship. This meets the Science Council’s regulation for registration to practice as a Science Manufacturing Technician. You will train in pharmacy cleanroom technology, giving you a competitive edge in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
The main part of the role will be to support the wider team with the day to day running of the service 4 days a week. The other weekday will require you to attend preplanned study classes set by CSR Scientific Training Limited. This role does require you to carry out independent learning outside of work hours.
Main duties of the job
- To participate in all relevant departmental meetings and contribute to effective communication within the department.
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade as requested by the Chief of Service or Deputy Chief Pharmacist.
- To be aware of and apply, relevant legislation such as the Health and Safety at Work Act, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, GMP and Medicines’ Act.
- To at all times practice in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- To uphold the security of drugs and the premises at all times.
- Attend courses and study days as deemed appropriate by the Deputy Chief Pharmacist .

- Maths and English at Grade C, grade 4 and above
Experience

- Previous experience working in a UK pharmacy
- Previous experience of NVQ and e-portfolio preferably Level 2 Pharmacy Services
- Pharmacy computer system
- Demonstrate knowledge of ‘patient confidentiality’
