Job overview

An opportunity to join CONTACT – the Staff Counselling, Stress Management, Conflict Resolution and Trauma Support Service for Imperial College Healthcare Trust, based at 3 major hospital sites: Charing Cross, Hammersmith and St. Mary’s. CONTACT is a comprehensive in house support service for staff at all levels of the Trust. You will be a BACP/UKCP/BPS accredited practitioner with substantial experience of a wide range of clients and time-limited work. You will have substantial knowledge and experience of work-place counselling, related research and the challenges and ethical dilemmas presented in this area of work. In addition you must have group facilitation, training and supervisory training and experience as well as therapeutic skills to a senior practitioner level. You will be able to work with groups of staff dealing with conflict, and to support both individuals and groups of staff experiencing traumatic incidents. An Integrated and transcultural approach is essential in all areas of work. You will be required to work across the hospital sites. 

Main duties of the job

You will be joining, CONTACT a comprehensive staff support service inclusive of all. And providing a range of professional, confidential services, giving all staff a safe non-judgemental space, which provides a framework for psychological growth, development and enhancement of workplace relationships. With a focus on self-care, compassion and team collaboration to strengthen individual and collective resilience. Helping to create an environment for staff to deliver more effective and efficient patient care.

You will be delivering a range of expert services for individuals and groups including:

Counselling
Trauma Support
Stress Management
Conflict Services
Group facilitation
Psycho-education for individuals and teams
Delivery of range of training
Bespoke interventions

EDUCATION

Essential criteria
  • Counselling / psychotherapy training to Diploma/Degree/Master's level
  • BACP/UKCP/BPS accredited practitioner
  • Training in short-term work
  • Training/qualification in supervision
  • Training in group work
  • Training in stress management
  • Training in work with trauma
Desirable criteria
  • Mediator training

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Essential criteria
  • Facilitation skills – range of groups
  • Integrated transcultural model - application to all areas of work
  • Understanding of the stresses faced by NHS staff
  • Ability to maintain and contribute to administrative processes
  • Ability to design short courses/programmes
