The post is based in the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Rheumatology department at Hammersmith Hospital (HH). In our departments, a multidisciplinary approach to the management of rheumatic diseases is regarded as a prerequisite for delivering high quality patient care and we work closely and collaboratively with other specialties such as Renal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology and Radiology. The ICHNT Rheumatology department serves the northwest London area and is recognised as national and international leading centres in the treatment of rheumatic conditions. Furthermore, we work closely with local community musculoskeletal services providers. This is a locum, vacancy cover, full time until August 2026. The post is suitable for doctors with general medicine knowledge at the level expected for a senior house officer and ideally, but not essential, some previous Rheumatology experience. It is an exciting opportunity to join a Rheumatology department recognised for its exceptional care and multidisciplinary approach.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will deliver a broad range of Rheumatology services including outpatient general rheumatology clinics, specialist clinics such as LVV and scleroderma, inpatient Rheumatology reviews and ward referrals, and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings. They will be supernumerary to outpatient clinics and working under direct supervision of a consultant or Rheumatology specialty training. They will also participate to GIM rota, 1:6 with 7 x long days (9am to 10pm) over 6 weeks, which attracts a 1B (40%) supplement. The department provides training for specialist trainees and has a history of collaborating in translational and bench research through close working relationships with Imperial College. The successful candidate will work with medical, nursing, and managerial colleagues to ensure clinical efficiency, quality of outcomes, financial management and operational efficiency. They will be supported to maintain up-to-date portfolio for training and revalidation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is full time equivalent post based at Hammersmith Hospital. The role entails:

·         4 Rheumatology outpatient clinics per week (supernumerary to consultant or specialty registrar lists)

·         Inpatient referrals review

·         Weekly DCC meetings

Support the nurse team in dealing with clinical queries
