We are delighted to announce a vacancy within the dynamic iMobile Critical Care Outreach Team at our Denmark Hill site, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

 We are seeking a passionate, highly skilled, and experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in Critical Care Outreach to join our forward-thinking team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a service that delivers expert critical care support across the hospital to deteriorating patients, making a tangible impact on patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience as Critical Care Outreach Nurse , alongside evidence of academic training and competencies that demonstrate practice at an advanced level within Critical care outreach.

Main duties of the job

  • As an ACP you will be practising autonomously providing expert care for a complex group of patients. This will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice throughout the site.    
  • You will be able to deliver skills in advance practice whilst recognising the limits of your clinical competence and seeking guidance from the medical team.   

  • Facilitate the provision of a highly efficient critical outreach, responsive to the needs of the patients and the organisation.   

  • In conjunction with the iMobile Leads you will have the responsibility to support developments in Clinical Governance and to modernise services.  

  • The post holder will be a strong clinical leader and autonomous practitioner providing expertise to clinical staff across the organisation, and where necessary lead the iMobile team.    

  • The post holder will be an exemplary role model and expert clinical practitioner and promote the trust values.   

  • Provide professional advice to all areas of the organisation concerning deteriorating patients. Participate in service development and delivery: including policy development, training, clinical governance, and risk.   

  • The post holder will deliver a 90% clinical component to their role and 10% related to appraisal, clinical audit, teaching, continuous professional development and research.

Skills and competancies

Essential criteria
  • Able to prioritise workload
  • Provide patients centred care, involving in decision making around care
  • Work as part of a team but has ability to work alone
  • Enthusiasm for advancing practice in nursing, critical care outreach and deteriorating patient care.
  • Good communicator both written and verbal
  • Computer literate. Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including word, excel and power point. Ability to develop these further
Desirable criteria
  • Able to produce and analyse reports relating to CCOT service and deteriorating patients

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of undertaking audit & research
  • Significant experience in multi-speciality hospital: neuro, haematology, liver, renal and cardiac.
  • Experience of teaching and presenting regularly in previous post, confident to deliver this to MDT.
  • Experience of people management and leadership in previous role
  • Experience of leading in emergency situations
  • Experience in planning and delivering care to deteriorating patients
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to lead teams
  • Experience writing policies, SOPs or guidelines
  • Experience in leading quality improvement initiatives in previous role.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing service budget
  • Previous experience in an ACP role

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate Professional registration – NMC Adult Nurse
  • Mentorship or equivalent student assessment qualification
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice as defined by HEE framework for ACP or MSc in relevant subject with ACP status via portfolio route.
  • ALS provider
  • Qualification in Advanced assessment and clinical decision making
  • Non-medical prescriber, with evidence of scope of practice within critical care outreach.
  • Intensive care nursing course with associated step competency framework for adult critical care nurses – Or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Teaching/ instructing qualification or experience (e.g. GIC, iLSi, Alert or iRescue trainer, HEI lecturing)
  • Evidence of National outreach forum Enhanced and Advanced competencies or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • ALS instructor
  • Human Factors training
  • Quality improvement training
  • Simulation or debriefing training course
