Job overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Team Leader to join our Endoscopy team. The post holder should have excellent communication and leadership skills, and be enthusiastic and committed to leading and supporting the administrative staff. Responsibilities include managing recruitment, addressing performance issues, monitoring waiting times, allocating work, and managing staff absences. We welcome applications from compassionate and ambitious individuals who are eager to drive service quality and improvement.

The post holder will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the department. This includes leading the Endoscopy administrative team by managing recruitment, overseeing appraisals and performance issues, handling absence management, and managing complaints. The successful candidate will act as an expert and role model for the administrative team, working closely with the Assistant Directorate Manager to ensure a positive working environment where every team member has the opportunity to contribute and develop.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the development and improvement of the Endoscopy Team, striving to provide the very best care and experience to all patients, while continually enhancing the motivation and wellbeing of staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To plan the day to day workload and to ensure the workload is carried out efficiently within the required timescales, dependant on the ever changing needs of the service. Monitor the waiting times within the service. To lead on the team's administrative systems and processes and implement improvements to the service on an on-going basis. To provide a comprehensive administration service to Consultants and support teams. Ensure clinical correspondence is produced and distributed within acceptable timescales. To hold & chair regular team meetings, conduct regular 1:1s, participate in administrative team meetings, service development meetings, and any other relevant meetings across sites as required. To manage recruitment and selection.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to a degree level with experience in Administration
  • A Level or NVQ level 4 in business administration or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Basic knowledge of Cancer and DM01 performance targets

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing and supervising groups of staff
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Excellent word-processing and spreadsheet skills, including Microsoft word and excel
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using Epic IT system
