Job overview

Band 7 Specialist Cystic Fibrosis Dietitian - 0.5 WTE

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced paediatric dietitian to join our paediatric Gen Med Team as a CF specialist, substantive staff member.

The King’s Cystic Fibrosis Regional Service provides a highly specialised service to children with Cystic Fibrosis across the Southeast Region. The service works with children from infancy through to adolescence in the transition service and we are a national specialist centre for CF Liver Disease.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the hospital inpatient and outpatient (clinic & day-case unit) settings, as well as reviewing patients in virtual/telephone clinics and via email.  There are 20 Regional Outreach Clinics per year in Kent and East Sussex, which are shared equally with the other CF 0.5 WTE Dietitian, depending on the days worked.

The 0.5 WTE for the CF post suits flexible working to suit the needs of the service and the post holder. Wednesdays are the main CF MDT.

The CF MDT is a well-established, friendly team and AHP’s are well supported and encouraged to participate in clinical audit and research; regularly attending and contributing to national & international conferences.  We work closely with other specialties for example diabetes and gastro to manage the multi-system nature of CF.

The paediatric GEN MED team sits within the wider paediatric Dietetic team at Denmark Hill, which has 16 Dietitians (14.0 WTE) covering a wide range of specialities.

The dietetic department offers excellent training and development opportunities. We actively support the Kings-flex policy of accommodating flexible working hours. We have good office accommodation and IT facilities.

Working for our organisation

The Trust provides a full range of local and specialist services across its five sites. The trust-wide strategy of Strong Roots, Global Reach is our Vision to be BOLD, Brilliant people, Outstanding care, Leaders in Research, Innovation and Education, Diversity, Equality and Inclusion at the heart of everything we do. By being person-centred, digitally-enabled, and focused on sustainability, we aim to take Team King’s to another level.

We are at a pivotal point in our history and we require individuals who are ready to join a highly professional team and make a real, lasting difference to our patients and our people.

King’s is committed to delivering Sustainable Healthcare for All via our Green Plan. In line with national Greener NHS ambitions, we have set net zero carbon targets of 2040 for our NHS Carbon Footprint and 2045 for our NHS Carbon Footprint Plus. Everyone’s contribution is required in order to meet the goals set out in our Green Plan and we encourage all staff to work responsibly, minimising their contributions to the Trust’s carbon emissions, waste and pollution wherever possible.
