As Head of Equality, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) and Culture, you will lead the strategic development and delivery of our EDI and cultural transformation agenda. You’ll be instrumental in embedding compassionate leadership, psychological safety, and inclusive practices across the organisation. This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape policy, drive engagement, and ensure compliance with national standards including WRES, WDES, and Gender Pay Gap reporting.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Trust’s EDI and culture programme of work
  • Champion inclusive leadership and Just Culture principles
  • Collaborate with staff networks and senior leaders to support and amplify employee voice
  • Deliver impactful engagement and OD campaigns, and wellbeing initiatives
  • Oversee national reporting requirements and drive continuous improvement

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Director of Employee Experience, the Head of EDI and Culture will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisations culture to be more diverse, equitable and inclusive. The role includes fostering an inclusive workplace, driving cultural and organisational change, ensuring compliance with local and national policies and legislation, and fostering a workplace culture where everyone feels respected, valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to master’s degree level in a relevant subject or the equivalent level of experience, developed through similar specialist roles.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development, with an emphasis on EDI and leadership

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of providing specialist advice, support, and guidance on a range of highly complex and sensitive issues to key decision makers within the organisation
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in EDI development activities concerning to the full range of protected characteristics, including a broad and deep understanding of barriers to change, prejudices and unconscious bias and how to appropriately challenge and remove such barriers
