Job overview

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, the Capital Accountant will be responsible for the completion of routine monthly and quarterly capital accounting reports for the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will complete the capital schedules for inclusion in quarterly monitoring returns and year end accounts. These will be presented with full supporting papers for review by the Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Controller.

To ensure that the monthly accounting timetable is successfully completed to timescale in respect of capital and VAT tasks.

The post will act as a point of reference for both Internal and External Audit staff to allow for smooth and rapid completion of audit reports and information requests.

Assist in the production of the Annual Report and Summary Financial Statements as required.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Education & Qualifications First degree or equivalent
  • The post holder must be a fully qualified member of a CCAB body or studying towards such a qualification and be actively undertaking Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Thorough experience and up to date knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and internal financial controls as they relate to capital and taxation.
  • Extensive knowledge of VAT regulations.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Use of Fixed Asset Register
