Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ophthalmic technician to work in the vitreo retinal department in Moorfields Eye Hospital, City Road. The  vitreo retinal service sees both elective and emergency patients within the out-patient and emergency unit .

Working in a friendly modern environment you'll carry out Ophthalmic technical and imaging procedures including OCT,  visual acuity assessment and intraocular pressure checks.

Previous experience in Ophthalmology would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.

 

Main duties of the job

To deliver efficiently and effectively, as part of a team and individually where applicable, specific ophthalmic clinical assessments including assessment of visual acuity, Intraocular pressure, ophthalmic imaging and instillation of eye drops .

Ensuring the safety and well-being of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centered care principles.

  • Previous work experience within a team
Desirable criteria
  • Previous work experience within a Hospital or ophthalmic unit

Education

Essential criteria
  • GCSE pass
Desirable criteria
  • GCSE maths and english pass
  • NVQ in health and social care level 3

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of good communication skills through interview and application form
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within a patient/customer facing role that demonstrates the importance of excellent communication
