Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete Stage 1, an online task scheduled for 12–14 November. Successful candidates will then be invited to attend Stage 2 interviews, expected to take place in person on Wednesday 26 November.

Main responsibilities

Analytical service & insight

Deliver a high quality, responsive and efficient analytical service supporting the QSIS team through robust information collection and data analysis.
Work with performance, clinical, operational and corporate teams to identify opportunities for transformational change using analysis and benchmarking.
Produce analytical outputs and insights for QSIS-led projects, including readiness for major programmes such as electronic patient record (EPR) implementation and the Oriel hospital site relocation.
Develop information dashboards, ensuring content is appropriate for different audiences, and support “deep dives” to identify bottlenecks in patient pathways and processes.

Performance & information

Work with programme, project and operational leads to develop key performance/diagnostic indicators.
Ensure completion, analysis and review of demand and capacity models to benchmark and manage change.
Provide detailed interpretation and recommendations from analysis to QSIS project teams and senior stakeholders.
Support development of reports for new data sets and embed changes to enable future transformational opportunities.
Promote benchmarking opportunities with peer groups and nationally to inform project planning and delivery.
Maintain high levels of quality through a data quality assurance process, working closely with the performance and information team.
Integrate qualitative and quantitative data to augment analysis and develop complex models.

Communication & engagement

Explain performance, intelligence and data issues to staff at all levels and define solutions collaboratively.
Communicate and engage constructively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on complex and specialist issues.
Develop appropriate and regular communication to support programme leads and senior stakeholders at trust boards and project meetings.

People & performance

Role model Moorfields’ values and behaviour framework.
Monitor performance of projects and change initiatives against agreed metrics and highlight areas requiring action.
Take lead responsibility for analysis of performance data across directorates to support transformational change.
Monitor overall progress against milestones, liaising with QSIS programme managers to resolve issues and initiate corrective action.

Person specification

Essential criteria

Degree in a numerate subject (e.g. Maths, Data Science) or equivalent relevant experience.
Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable criteria

Masters degree or similar qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
Formal project or programme management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, AgilePM).

Essential criteria

Significant experience as a data analyst using quantitative analysis and coding (e.g. SQL, Python, R) to solve complex real-world problems by predicting and comparing various hypothetical scenarios.

Essential criteria

Proven track record of delivering change through analysis, modelling, and reporting.

Essential criteria

Advanced technical skills, including SQL database management, Excel, and coding in at least one other language (e.g. Python, R).

Essential criteria

Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience presenting complex or sensitive findings to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences.

Essential criteria

Experience of project/programme environments, including setting objectives, managing risks/issues, and supporting major change initiatives.
Experience coding in at least one other language (e.g. Python, R).

Desirable criteria

Experience working in the NHS or a comparable large, complex organisation.
Experience developing dashboards in Qlik Sense.
Advanced knowledge of R.
Experience of developing geographic outputs/analyses to support decision making
