Primary Care Digital Delivery Clinical Lead (Digital)

Job overview

Clinical and Care Professional Leads support south east London-wide and borough programmes of work, therefore, there is an expectation that you currently work within south east London, and for borough based roles, within that borough.

The postholder will provide clinical support and leadership for the Digital team responsible for the delivery of support, maintenance and continuous improvement to primary care providers. The postholder will work closely with members of the Digital team, primary care stakeholders, and other internal and external colleagues in an effective and collaborative manner. 

The postholder will play a key role in ensuring the primary care voice is heard and represented in the development, design and implementation of initiatives and new models of care. They will have strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, and will be able to work effectively with clinical and managerial colleagues across the system.

Close working with the wider Digital Clinical Leads is an essential part of this role. We are working hard to ensure digital transformation programmes are fully supported to transition to business-as-usual function once successfully implemented and to fall under the broader GPIT structures and therefore close working relationships between teams is essential.

The postholder should have experience and expertise as a Clinical Safety Officer and will be expected to lead the clinical risk assessments of digital solutions.

Main duties of the job

1.    Engage with general practitioners and provide subject matter expertise into activities relating to digital solutions for general practice.

2.     Explore opportunities for enhancing the provision of high quality IT support to general practices

3.     Support the development and implementation of the Primary Care Digital Delivery Plan.

4.     Identify opportunities for innovation in the delivery of primary care digital solutions and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

5.     Support engagement with general practice on the realisation of benefits from digital initiatives.

6.     Support GP IT Futures/Digital Pathways framework procurements, and effective delivery of the solutions implemented.

7.     Represent the ICB Digital team at relevant forums and meetings including being an advocate of digital solutions and programmes, and engaging with the Local Medical Committee (LMC).

8.     Engage with external agencies and act as advocate general practice and IT.

9.     Identify and mitigate risks from digital solutions from a primary care clinical perspective.

10. Be the Clinical Safety Officer for digital solutions for general practice, and support the development, implementation and continuation of a Clinical Safety Officer community of practice for South East London.

Qualification and Training

Essential criteria
  • GMC registration and inclusion on the GP Register (and working in a practice in the South East London Integrated Care System)
  • Clinical Safety Officer Training
  • Experience working on programmes and projects in general practice, including GPIT
  • Training in user-centred design, or a demonstrated understanding of the same
  • Experience in the use of GPIT tools in primary care and an understanding of the needs of general practice in relation to IT support
  • Understand the challenges of health inequalities and principles of identifying and addressing these
