Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust is responsible for providing mental health services for people of all ages across the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, as well as providing some specialist services across the whole of North London and beyond. Since January 2011, the Trust also provides adult and children’s community health services in Enfield, following the transfer of Enfield Community Services from NHS Enfield.

Job overview
This is a 12-month fixed term post but there is a possibility of extension beyond this period depending on performance and service need. This is an excellent opportunity to work within the NHS to gain further psychiatric skills and to promote patient centred care in line with our Trust values. The post holder will be expected to work
3 days per week, from 9am-5pm. The post holder will be provided protected time for CPD/supporting professional activities and opportunities for quality improvement work. The Trust provides a weekly academic programme on Wednesday afternoon hybrid. The salary will be based on your level of experience.
Main duties of the job
This is fixed term post which has become available due to service gaps. An induction will be provided to your placement explaining roles and responsibilities as well as your workplace. A Trust induction will also be provided after starting in your allocated post.
The successful applicant(s) will work within their allocated post. The post will offer the opportunity to perform clinical assessments of individuals with mental health conditions, including mental state examination, history taking, physical health examination and attendance of meetings with the multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will gain experience with the full spectrum of psychiatric morbidity. This post is based in a multidisciplinary setting and the post holder will work closely with all the members of the team (SAS doctor, nurses, health care assistances, psychologists, social workers & graduate mental health workers). The care delivered is recovery-focused, placing emphasis on individuals’ strengths and goals for the future.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1. To join and document ward meetings, morning meetings, ward reviews
2. Perform clinical assessments of individuals with mental health problems admitted to the ward
3. Develop knowledge of mental health, including formulation of care plans
4. To perform physical health checks (bloods, ECGs and physical examinations) and liaise with general hospital/GP colleagues to maintain patient physical health.
5. Develop psychiatric interview and risk assessment skills
6. To be flexible and accessible in providing appropriate care to the patients.
7. To work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
8. To comply with the trust values, policies, and procedures.
9. To participate in quality improvement work (e.g. audit, service development, etc.).
This is a job based at Wellbeing Clinic, St. Ann Hospital, St Ann’s Rd, London N15 3TH, Haringey London. This post has 5 DCC and 1 SPA activities. Clinical supervision will be provided by Senior Medical Staff within the clinical senior leadership team as required. There will be an opportunity to attend the local Trust teaching programmes as well as an opportunity to gain experience within Quality Improvement Work.
The post will provide excellent experience of working with people with a wide range of acute mental health problems, gaining experience in assessing and formulation of treatment plans.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential criteria
- Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise from the GMC.
- 2 years of medical experience plus 2 years of psychiatry experience
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists UK or equivalent
- Additional degree or equivalent

- Previous medical or psychiatric experience in foundation training or equivalent
- 2 years of medical experience plus 2 years of psychiatry experience

- Assessing and prioritising patient needs
- Excellent IT skills for timely record keeping on electronic records

- Experience of working in a multi-cultural society
