Greenwich CAMHS Operational Manager

Band 8b

Job overview

We are pleased to advertise a rare and exciting opportunity for an outstanding candidate to join our dynamic and energetic CAMHS leadership group as Operational Manager for specialist community CAMHS services in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

As Operational Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that high quality and responsive clinical services are provided to children, young people and families/carers within Greenwich.  You will work in close partnership with senior clinical, professional and managerial leads within the Trust to realise our ambitious goals for Greenwich CAMHS and to drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Extensive experience of operational management and exceptional leadership skills are critical to success in this role - you will need to be a strong, compassionate and convincing communicator with an energy and passion for working with children and young people and in delivering transformational change. As such, we welcome applications from candidates with diverse experiences, including those without a clinical background.

Main duties of the job

Greenwich CAMHS works with children and young people aged 0-18 years with severe and enduring emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties. The service is underpinned by CYP IAPT principles and places great emphasis upon exciting and creative user participation work and service development.

The service is aligned to the nationally recognised THRIVE framework and provides interventions to service users on a needs-led basis. The service also has close relationships with wider CAMHS services in the Trust, including our cross-borough Crisis and DBT pathways.

We have established close working relationships with a range of partners within the Royal Borough of Greenwich and South-East London more broadly, including Children's Social Care and local schools.

The post is located in a modern clinic base in Shooters Hill, a short distance from Woolwich Arsenal train station with regular access to central London & Kent via the Elizabeth Line, DLR and national rail services.

Our Values:

Our values express our heart at Oxleas. They are the lens we look through to guide our behaviours day-to-day, informing how we act, the decisions we make, and how we work with our service users, patients, families, carers, and colleagues.

Our values have been developed through discussions with our staff, patients, and local people about what our priorities should be to support us to achieve our mission of ‘Improving lives’.

They have also emerged through open and honest conversations about race inequality and difference and how we can continually create an environment that delivers excellent patient care and makes Oxleas a great place to work.

About The Organisation:

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is one of the most successful and innovative healthcare providers in the country. Since becoming a Foundation Trust in 2006 the organisation has continued to thrive and now provides integrated mental health, learning disabilities and community services for much of South East London and a range of more specialist services in Kent and other counties.

Oxleas has worked hard to develop an organisational culture based on excellent care, valuing people and placing the needs of service users at the very centre of all decision making – it is this approach that has won the Trust numerous accolades over the years including as one of the HSJ’s Best Places to Work 2014.

Oxleas is a great place to work - we regularly achieve highest ranking results in the National Staff Survey.

We provide care for people of all ages and work closely with a variety of partners to ensure that our services are well-integrated and wide-ranging. We have a workforce of around 3,500 people including many highly skilled health and social care professionals. We have over 125 sites in a variety of locations across the London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and into Kent.

We have been the main provider of specialist mental health care for more than ten years and have developed a comprehensive portfolio of services in community and hospital settings. We also provide specialist forensic mental health care across South East London and in Kent Prisons.

Training:

The Trust is committed to the development and retention of our workforce. You will be able to access a range of CPD/training opportunities whilst in post, including targeted CAMHS mental health courses. The Trust has also developed close partnerships with institutions such as Greenwich University and the renowned Anna Freud Centre

We recognise that you may not have previous experience of working within CAMHS - we do not see this as a barrier to your application and encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences.  Through a supportive induction process, we will work with you to identify your transferrable skills and to ensure you are supported to develop where this is needed.

Benefits:

The Trust is dedicated to ensuring that you feel valued as a staff member and are pleased to offer an extensive range of benefits for you. This includes:

  • Generous pay (outer-London weighting), pensions scheme (and life assurance) and leave package
  • Agile and flexible working arrangements, including part-time working and job sharing
