Band 7 Macmillan Personalised Care Community Reach Project Manager
NHS AfC: Band 7
Job overview
We’re looking for a strategic and compassionate Project Manager to join our transformative, equity-led programme addressing gaps in personalised cancer care across London.
This isn’t just about project delivery – it’s about meaningful system change. Funded and in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, the Macmillan Quality of Life Community REACH programme is now in its implementation phase. Following engagement and co-design with underserved communities and stakeholders, we are launching three pan-London workstreams that aim to:
· Build culturally safe, community-connected cancer pathways through meaningful engagement and communication strategies informed by principles of equity and quality of life
· Improve information sharing and service navigation for people often left out of mainstream healthcare initiatives
· Embed equity and anti-racism into workforce development and training
You’ll play a key role in ensuring these workstreams are delivered with clarity, integrity and impact.
Please note this is a fixed term contract and we would also consider applications from those wanting a secondment opportunity.
Main duties of the job
As Project Manager, you will:
· Lead and co-ordinate multiple projects across our three core workstreams, managing timelines, deliverables, and risks
· Work with communities underserved by cancer in London – to co-design recommendations that influence policy and practice
· Produce clear, engaging reports, presentations and outputs for NHS bodies, Macmillan, community partners, and other key audiences
· Facilitate collaboration between ICBs, NHS England, Cancer Alliances, community groups and clinicians
· Represent the programme at external forums with professionalism, credibility, and humility
· Track progress, evaluate impact, and contribute to a growing body of evidence on what works when it comes to tackling inequity in cancer care
Working for our organisation
This role sits within the Transforming Cancer Services Team (TCST) for London (hosted by the Royal Free London NHS Trust)
– a collaborative, high-performing team committed to health equity and co-production. You’ll work closely with system partners, clinicians, community organisations and people with lived experience.
Why join us?
You’ll be part of a purposeful, thoughtful team that centres lived experience and equity in everything we do. We value co-production, and transparency and we commit to sharing power with underserved groups, communicating openly, embracing disruption and uncertainty, and balancing serious work with joy and care. You’ll have autonomy in your work, but also strong support and access to networks across Macmillan Cancer Support, TCST, and the wider health system.
You’ll also gain:
· NHS benefits (including discounts, learning and development opportunities)
· Access to Macmillan’s professional development and peer learning opportunities
· Close involvement in shaping one of London’s flagship cancer equity initiatives
· The chance to influence real-world outcomes for communities too often overlooked in cancer care
If you’re motivated by systems change, community voice, and the belief that better is possible – we’d love to hear from you.
