Job overview

The successful applicant will join an innovative and expert team within the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust, the post holder will be primarily based at the echocardiography service at Finchley Memorial Hospital which is known for being a well-established Community Diagnostic Centre.  There will be opportunities to rotate through all the sites for training and development purposes.

Main duties of the job

 The post holder will be expected to:

 Demonstrate expertise in echocardiography ensuring that the service model provides demonstrably high-quality patient care within financial and clinical targets.

 Demonstrate working knowledge of the full range of investigations.

Demonstrate leadership qualities, provide support to junior team members and carry out organisational and supervisory duties. Participate in developing shift rotas, including weekend work.

Demonstrate a professional approach to patient care and be able to communicate with patients clearly. Effectively communicate within the Community Diagnostic Centre’s and other departments  throughout the Trust.

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Clinical Physiology or BSc in Healthcare Sciences
  • BSE or equivalent qualification in echocardiography
Desirable criteria
  • RCCP registration

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience as independent echocardiographer
Desirable criteria
  • Working knowledge of other investigations carried out in other areas

Skills and aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • High level of clinical and technical expertise in routine echocardiography
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in creating/updating departmental policies & procedures

Personal qualities & attributes

  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines and organise own workload
