Applications are invited for 8 Speciality Doctors in critical care medicine. These vacancies are created as part of the expansion of critical care department of North Middlesex University Hospital in North London, comprising 10 PAs and on site resident on call.
This post will be full time main duties will involve stabilisation and care of critically ill patients
North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is one of London’s major Acute Hospital Trusts and is draws patients from Barnet and Waltham Forest. This is a catchment area of around one million residents and covers a highly diverse population with affluent wards as well as areas of complex deprivation and serious health need.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a team of 4 Trust Registrars, 8 Specialty Doctors, 8 Senior Fellows, 3 IMT 3 Foundation trainees and 10 consultants to provide their services for the Trust, and to ensure that the Junior Doctors are continually supported at the required level and that their training needs are met. Currently the department is undergoing rapid expansion and shortly 3 more consultants will be joining the team.
Our department is very supportive in career development. Candidates working towards CCT/CESAR are welcome.
Participation in management duties within the department are encouraged. Active participation and provision of leadership to the MDTs,Provide clinician services as per job plan, Work with consultants and junior colleagues and nursing staff to ensure efficient use of Trust’s resources and contribute actively to clinical governance in the department and to development of quality enhancement projects in the unit. Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions at the request of the clinical manager, as the need arises.
Actively participate in the Unit’s Teaching Programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies. Actively participate in clinical guidelines development, audit and CPD.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent/MRCS
- Minimum 4 years experience of critical care
- Full, current GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Anesthetic Skills
Desirable criteria
- Mimum of 6 months of core trainee level and obtained initial competency in anaesthesia
- Primary FRCA,MRCP,MRCS, MCEM, EDIC or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience working in a Anaesthetic/Critical Care setting
- ALS Certified and up to date
Desirable criteria
- NHS experience
Skills and aptitudes
Essential criteria
- Able to prioritise clinical need
- Able to discuss treatment options with patients in a way they can understand
Desirable criteria
- Understands the responsibilities of being an employee of the NHS
