Job overview
The Diabetes & Endocrine element of this post will provide cover across five outpatient clinical activities per week, contribute to inpatient Diabetes & Endocrinology ward round/rota, complete CAS triage, as well as supporting undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and education.
The Acute Medicine element of this role will provide cover across the Acute Medicine Rota weekend Tower on call, the 8 East rota cover and contribution towards Acute Medicine Lower Ground floor on call shifts.
Main duties of the job
This post will contribute to the delivery of diabetes inpatient and outpatient services.
There will be four clinics delivered on a weekly basis, focusing variously on diabetes pumps & technology, general T1 diabetes support as well as a clinic focused on supporting urgent patients and admission avoidance.
The post holder will also support the delivery of the antenatal diabetes clinic by providing cover 10 weeks per year.
A weekly ward round is lead by this consultant post, with support from nursing and junior medical colleagues.
The Acute Internal Medicine (AIM) service at the Royal Free Hospital (RFH) provides rapid assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting with acute medical emergencies – usually via the Emergency Department (ED) or via GP referral.

- • Full GMC registration
- • MRCP or equivalent
- • CCT in Diabetes AND General (Internal) Medicine or interview within 6 months of CCT date
Desirable criteria
- MSc, MD or PhD
Skills and aptitudes

- • Strong teaching skills and experience
- • Understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement methodology
