An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us in our busy Paediatric Emergency Department Royal Free as a Paediatric Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, as we grow our Paediatric ED leadership with these new posts.

As a member of Royal Free Paediatric Emergency Department team the Paediatric Senior Sister/Charge Nurse will lead junior nursing staff with the support of the ED Matron team working closely with the Paediatric Speciality Matron. The role will involve working in conjunction with our adult Emergency Department colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team for the benefit of the child/young person and parents.
You will be a senior nurse providing emergency care to children and young persons with knowledge and skills to promote the highest standards of care and quality.

Main duties of the job
In summary you will be expected to lead a shift and co-orindate the provision of care within the Paediatric Emergency Department.
Supporting the staff and the multidisciplinary team to navigate the best clinical care pathway for the child/young person.
You will supervise staff and be instrumental in driving safety and quality of care with an expertise in paediatric emergency nursing. It will be expected that you coach and mentor junior nursing staff including students and healthcare support staff. The pinnacle of your role is to communicate efficiently with the team and escalate as appropriate. During the shift you will work closely with the ED Adult Band 7 Nurse in Charge as well as the Emergency Physician In Charge (EPIC).
