Job overview
An exciting opportunity has come up for an experienced midwife to become the band 7 lead for the Day Assessment Unit. The post holder will be responsible for the management of the Maternity Day Assessment Unit.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will facilitate the professional and clinical development of members of their team, ensuring delivery of high calibre care, and efficient use of facilities, manpower and other resources. The post holder will be the lead professional for the development and continuing development of the Antenatal and Maternity Day Unit Out Patient Services. The post holder will work with band 7 leads and matrons across all maternity to ensure a harmonised service and promote joint working/learning.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse / Midwife/ BSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience
- Your professional knowledge acquired at degree level will be supplemented by specialist training, experience and/or short courses to master’s level equivalent
- Recognised Teaching Qualification
- Completion of leadership course
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of Post graduate study related to clinically related subject
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive post registration experience with significant experience at band 6 or above
- Evidence of leading change
- Experience or knowledge of working collaboratively with service users
Desirable criteria
- Experience of managing a team or an area within a ward/department
Knowledge and awareness
Essential criteria
- Expert clinical skills/knowledge within midwifery
- Leadership skills
- Able to apply HR policies/processes relevant to managing a staff team
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to manage conflict situations in a staff team or with clients
- Experience or Knowledge of Ockenden recommendations and CNST standards related to Out Patient Services
