Job overview

The post holder will be a skilled member of the nursing team caring for patients. You will be expected to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate a high standard of care to patients and their families, according to our world class values and in accordance with agreed policies and within available resources. You will be required to supervise and teach junior nursing staff as appropriate within the Renal and Urology outpatients unit.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of patients’ individual care under the direction of the unit's manager and matron.
- The primary role of the Register Nurse in outpatients is to work as a team member providing support to all colleagues and service users attending this busy outpatients department.  The post holder will be directly involved in providing clinical and clerical support to the multidisciplinary team, so that an efficient and responsive service can be provided for all patients, in all areas and clinical specialities within the outpatient department.
- The registered nurse must be able to work on his/her own initiative, provide a safe and customer- focused environment, offering patients and their relatives a caring and supportive service.
- The Registered nurse will  assist with opening and closing of the department and provide training and support to junior staff and healthcare support workers.

  • Ward experience as well as exposure to renal and urology care is essential
  • this is a full time position - 37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week (Monday to Friday, 8-10am-4-6pm duties only).  It does not suit candidates wishing to work compressed hours or working night and weekend duties.
