Job overview

The Community Paediatric service is consultant led and works in close partnership with specialist community children’s health services, GPs, children’s social care, education and the acute sector, providing a range of services for children with neurodevelopmental disorders, neurodisabilities and for vulnerable children in a safeguarding context, including Children Looked After. The service is provided for children and young people who are resident in Camden or registered with a Camden GP and/or attend school in the borough of Camden. It forms part of the Camden multi-disciplinary integrated service for children with disabilities (MOSAIC) and also provides clinics for children with neurodevelopmental conditions, autism assessments, motor disorders and complex neurodisability, Down syndrome, epilepsy, feeding difficulties and Children Looked After.  Most clinics are held at Kentish Town Health Centre and complex neurodisability and epilepsy clinics are held at the Royal Free Hospital.

Main duties of the job

This post includes the following commitments: Children Looked After Health Assessments, share of the Named Doctor role for Safeguarding, Neurodevelopmental Clinics including EHCP medical assessments, Multi-Disciplinary Child Development Clinics. In addition, the postholder will participate in the supervision rota for child protection medical examinations.

Camden Community Paediatric site: 

The Camden Community Paediatric Team are based at Camden MOSAIC, Kentish Town Health Centre, 2 Bartholomew Rd, London. NW5 2BX.

Clinical work takes place at a number of sites across the Borough including Royal Free Hospital and Swiss Cottage School.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • CCT paediatrics (or within 6 months of obtaining)
  • Full GMC registration
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Neurodisability or Level 3 Community Child Health competencies
Desirable criteria
  • ADOS Trained

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Confidence with child safeguarding – up to date level 3 training essential
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the environment in which the service needs to be delivered
  • Knowledge of working with children with a range of neurodevelopmental conditions thway development and service change experience
  • Working within an MDT setting
Desirable criteria
  • change Managment

  • Clinical capability in the required specialty / sub-specialty
  • Aptitude for teaching and training
