Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate  to the role of Clinic Receptionist - Ocean Day Unit within our Inpatient Service Support team at part time time hours to provide a high level administrative service to all patients and staff within the Ocean Day Unit located within our Children's Outpatient department. The weekly hours for this role are Monday - Friday 9:00am - 3:30pm.

These shifts enable the administrative function  to provide a full and robust  support service to the clinicians on the units in liaison with other members of the team. This role will not typically include working on bank holidays, but any that may fall on your working day would be counted as working days with an additional day AL provided during the year.

Main duties of the job

The ward receptionist is a key role within the paediatric administrative function for a number of reasons. This includes being the first point of contact for all visitors to our Ocean Day Unit, maintaining all administrative functions and databases, managing our daily Ocean Day Unit Doctors Clinic, liaising with the Paediatric Allergy team to enable timely bookings of Food Challenge tests, assisting with queries from patients and visitors escalating to clinical staffing as appropriate, and maintaining patient records as required.

This role sits within the Patient Services function of the Children’s Admin service, and staff are required to dress smart casual in adherence to the Trust Uniform policy, and be bare below the elbows at all times, and further information will be provided to the successful candidate. The postholder will report directly to our Paediatric Team Leader for Patient Services, who will act as the first line for any and all queries, and will work in the wider Babies, Children's & Young Peoples service.

The successful postholder must have good IT & communicational skills, and be able to deal with changing priorities and workloads, and be able to work both autonomously and as part of a wider team. Cross-cover may be required, and all administrative are trained to be able to work in all ward areas as required.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • GCSE in English and Math equivalent to GCSE Level C/4 or Functional Skills Level 2 or above.
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 or above in one of the following areas; • Business Administration • Customer Service

Relevant Experience

  • Experience working in an administrative setting.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.
