Main duties of the job
As a Band 7 Sonographer, the main duties include conducting comprehensive ultrasound examinations and providing accurate reports. The role involves training and supervising junior sonographers and assistant staff, effectively managing the daily workflow, and ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of patient records. Additionally, the Sonographer is tasked with maintaining and caring for sophisticated ultrasound equipment, participating in departmental audits, research activities, and playing an active role in governance, focusing on areas such as risk management and health and safety protocols.

- DCR or BSc diploma/degree or equivalent
- PGCert or higher in medical ultrasound / DMU equivalent
- Evidence of CPD
- HCPC or relevant professional registration
- Knowledge of Current Ultrasound Techniques
Desirable criteria
- Good written and spoken English
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working at a band 6/7 level
- Experience in obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound
- Collaborative working in specialist areas to develop service whilst demonstrating the ability to use own initiative
- Ability to Prioritise and Organise Demands on Services
Desirable criteria
- Qualification in General ultrasound (recently qualified candidates will be equally considered)
Skills and aptitudes
Essential criteria
- Ability to Teach
- Understanding of Clinical Governance within Radiology
- An understanding of the National guidelines in relation to medical ultrasound
- Ability to work to a high standard with minimum supervision
Desirable criteria
- Professional appearance, positive and cheerful personality
